Eyelashes have the potential to be a terrific eye-opener. Follow these guidelines to make yours lush and long.
Choosing the Right Mascara:
When choosing your mascara the first thing to consider is your hair colour. Blondes and Redheads usually look best in brown mascara during the day, but for those after hour cocktails switch to a dramatic black. Brunettes and darker hair shades look lovely wearing black mascara for all hours. Although, sticking to a less dramatic black is advised during daylight hours.
Curling your lashes:
Before you apply your mascara curl the lashes using this technique for a rounded curl rather than an "L". Start at the
base with your curler. Curl and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat this halfway up the lashes, and then at the tip to create staggering length and stunningly curved lashes!
If you don't have a lash curler, try simply applying your mascara and then immediately holding the edge of your forefinger against the lashes pushing then upwards for 10 seconds. This will set your lashes as the mascara dry's.
Try gently heating your lash curler with your hairdryer (we stress gently we would hate you to singe them) this will give you a curve that will last you all day.
For a more permanent curl you can perm your eyelashes rather like you would your hair. This is an in salon treatment which you should discuss with your beauty therapist.
Adding length to your lashes:
Its all about the application technique that you use with your mascara. Make sure you apply to both the top and the bottom of your lashes for that really lengthy look.
Another way to add length is to consider tinting your lashes. By permanently colouring your lashes the ends which are generally lighter are given back their colour or darkened to give the appearance of more length. This should only be done by a professional in my opinion as its far too easy to get it in the eyes!
False eye lashes and lash extensions:
The latest look for the face is big thick and long lashes Which are definitely less painful to achieve than the last trend of the full lips!
The only way for most of us to achieve full lashes is to add a false lash or two. Things have come a long way since the last time this trend took hold in the sixties when only full lashes were available. You can now use both full lashes or individual lashes for a more natural look, they can be temporary or semi- permanent and of artificial or natural hair.
If you are using false lashes at home yourself the best tip I can give you is to use minimal amounts of glue as you can always add more later if needed. Too much glue can not only end up in your eye but can be seen and make the whole look too fake. When using individual lashes apply them to the outer corners of your eyes for the best look.
